The Wallpapering Process Flow :
Two types of Wallpaper Adhesives:
i. Non-Woven Wallpapers application on Wall ( Wallpapering): [See Symbol ___ on Label] Here we use B-Tex-Adhesive Powder provided in Mini-Pack ( 135 grams) & B-Tex HD-Emulsion ( 50 grams) in Mini Dibi. This quantity shall be sufficient to install on wall upto 2 Std. Rolls (each Std Roll is appx 5.4 sq. mtrs that can cover wall area upto 4.5 to 4.7 sq. mtrs).
ii. Wallpapers with Std. Base Paper: On-wall application ( Wallpapering). Here we use G-Tex-Adhesive Powder (50 grams) provided in Mini-Pack & G-Tex F-Emulsion in Mini Dibi. This quantity shall be sufficient to install on wall upto 2 Std. Rolls (each Std Roll is appx 5.4 sq. mtrs that can cover wall area upto 4.5 to 4.7 sq. mtrs).
[A] Surface Preparation:
i. Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from dust.
ii. Treat areas where there’s high risk of fungus/mould growth with high quality fungicidal wash.
iii. Fill cracks, dents and scrape bulges etc and smoothen the wall sufficiently so that these are not visible through the wallpaper after it’s application.
iv. Sandpaper the surface for ensuring proper smoothness of surface and dustoff the particles with a soft broom or brush.
[B] How to get started with wallpapering ?
i. Check on Label in the plastic transparent jacketed rolls (esp. when having more than one roll of same design) the Lot-Number.
ii. Make sure that same design rolls have same Lot Numbers (same Lot ensures same shade in multiple rolls of same design).
iii. If Lots are different then do not open the plastic jacket or else the supplier may not take back the Rolls for exchange.
iv. Once identified that the Lot Number on rolls are same, then remove the plastic jacket on the roll and retain the label.
v. Measure the height of the wall.
vi. To the height measured, add at least 10 cms and then cut the first sheet from the roll.
vii. To cut the 2nd sheet, lay the first sheet on the floor. Then unroll the length of approximately the same size from the roll by matching the design on the first sheet (for design continuity purpose) and then cut it.
viii. The design match in centimeters length is also sometimes shown on the label.
ix. Similarly cut other sheets from the rolls according to the height of the wall.
x. Mark each sheet with sheet number in sequence on the rear side of the design.
xi. Stack the sheets one over the other serially.
[C-1] How to make adhesive Solution for Non-Woven Wallpapering ?:
i. Take about 3 .5 litres of water and sprinkle B-Tex Powder to it gradually and slowly while hand stirring the water continuously for about 2 to 3 minutes.
ii. After mixing allow leave it to itself for about 10 minutes until it forms a uniform solution.
iii.To this solution, add B-Tex-HD-Emulsion, provided in a Mini-Dibi and hand stir it to mix it well.
iv. Allow the solution to wet itself for about 10 minutes until it forms a uniformly viscous whitish homogeneous solution of adhesive.
[C-2] How to make adhesive Solution for Std. Base Paper Wallpapering ?:
i. For 1 Mini-Pkt (50 grams) of G-Tex Adhesive Powder, take about 4 litres of water in bucket.
ii. Stir water vigorously with a stick or hand (to form a vortex in water) and keep adding the G-Tex Powder very slowly & gradually. (Warm water shall help it dissolve quickly).
iii. Leave the G-Tex adhesive mix for about 30 minutes to let it form a uniform adhesive Solution.
iv. If there are any lumps formed then give some more time to dissolve them. You can also mesh these with hand to dissolve it to form a uniform solution.
v. Add water to sufficiently dilute the Adhesive Solution, according to the porosity of wall.(more porous wall shall need more diluted solution).
vi. Add F-Emulsion from the Mini-Dibi (50 grams Favicol) and hand stir to form a uniform homogeneous Solution.
vii. Allow it for wet for about 5 to 10 minutes more.. and thus, the adhesive for wallpapering is ready.
viii. After wallpapering, use F-Emulsion to seal edges wherever necessary.
[D-1] How to get started with installation process of Non-Woven wallpaper ?
i. After following above para B (all eleven steps), apply adhesive solution (as per above para C-1) on wall uniformly with Roller brush.
ii. Apply the base of non-woven Wallpaper over the paste on wall.
iii. Sponge press it gently so that the wallpaper-sheet starts adhering to the wall.1
iv. It shall take about 2 to 3 hours to solidify and get firm on wall.
[D-2] How to get started with installation process of Wallpaper with Base-paper ?
i. Follow above para B (all eleven steps)
ii. Cover the floor with newspaper of size and length slightly larger than the size of the wallpaper sheets kept ready for wallpapering.
iii. Take each sheet serially with the 1st one first.
iv. Place it on a floor covered with newspapers, with the design facing the floor.
v. Apply Solution (as per above para C-2) on the Base-paper uniformly and allow it to wet sufficiently for about 10 to 15 minutes.
vi. Fold the sheets as shown in the graphic figures, without causing any creases or fold marks.
vii. In the meantime apply G-Tex adhesive Solution on the other sheets and fold them as in shown above.
[E] How to Apply Wallpaper-sheets on wall ?
i. Take one sheet at a time.
ii. The first one, market with Serial # 1, unfold it.
iii. If the Adhesive has gone dry on the base paper then apply it sufficiently and transfer the sheet on the wall.
iv. Let the first sheet be placed exactly vertical with the help of plumb-line (It’s available in any hardware shop or make your own plumb line by attaching a 3 to 4 meter length string to a ring containing bunch of keys and suspend it).
v. Align the first sheet with the vertical plumb line and then use ‘squeezee’ to gently press the wallpaper and take off excess of adhesive, lumps or bubbles from behind the wallpaper until it lays flat on the wall.
vi. Similarly take the 2nd sheet and place it side-by-side and use squeezee to lay it flat on wall as in dv above.
vii. If bubbles re-appear then not to worry, they shall disappear when after drying in 8 to 12 hours.
viii. Cutting excess sheet at the top or bottom or around door or window or other obstruction, the cutouts should be done with a sharp razor blade or a cutter and for straight cutting take help of a long steel scale.
ix. After wallpapering sponge-clean off any adhesive left on the wallpaper without spreading it on the wallpaper.
x. Before closing off, finally check all edges of wallpaper are properly & firmly pasted. If found loose then paste it firmly.
Congratulations… Your boring walls turned into beautiful walls !
